Hello September! 2021

I can’t believe it’s September. How are you my friends? I hope you are taking good care of your selves and are keeping safe and healthy. As for me I’m healing nicely and I’m continuing my cancer Journey with a positive mindset. It is truly hard some days. But I’m staying positive.

Last weekend we went to Port Perry and had fish and chips and I bought a book from the local book shop. It was lovely to get out and forget about my worries!

It’s that time of the year when I start planning October posts. Fall is my favourite time of the year. Autumn makes me happy. Books make me happy. Food makes me happy. I love all the colours that change in Autumn. I love cooler weather and the delicious autumnal foods. Do you have a bucket list? What are your favourite Fall things to do and see? Here is my bucket lists from previous years. I hope you try some of these out.

I will probably try to do a couple of blog posts but I don’t have time to do one for every day in October. I wish I could. 🎃 🍁

Health: I am doing well my friends. I’m continuing my radiation. I have 16 more to do. I am also continuing Herceptin. I’m feeling good and I just have a few aches and pains but I’m healing nicely. Radiation side effects don’t show up until two weeks later so I’ll keep you posted. I’m vlogging my radiation journey on my YouTube channel. If you like please subscribe. My hair is growing back but very very slowly.

THANK YOU

I will start off by saying thank you to Ulysses Press for the following two cookbooks: “The Un official hocus-pocus cookbook” by Bridget Thoreson and “The Unofficial Hogwarts cookbook for kids” by Alana Al-Hatlani. They have amazing Fall recipes in both cookbooks and I look forward to trying a few of them out. I will definitely share them with you when I make them. Some include pumpkin bread, pumpkin soup, hot chocolate and more.

Best Day To Cook: Food Everyday From the Kitchens Of Martha Stewart Living PART 3

September is going by so fast! I can’t believe how quick things are moving. I’ve been cooking a lot lately. My family is enjoying the food so much. It is great to cook from my recipe books because the recipes are easy, simple and delicious. Today’s book feature is *Food Everyday From the Kitchens of Martha Steward Living.

I love this cook book because the ingredients are simple and easy.  The recipes in this cook book include chicken, beef, pork and fish. The book also has recipes for side dishes. The cookbook separates recipes in 4 seasons. All the recipes are easy to follow with simple ingredients. Easy, fast, flavourful and delicious!

Here are the recipes that I made from this cook book:

Greek Salad with Seasoned Flatbread Pg. 28

I love salads do you? This recipe is a family favourite. A lovely refreshing salad and so easy to toss together. I can eat this everyday.

Cashew Chicken on Pg. 40

I’m a huge cashew chicken lover. I love this recipe. So easy and simple to make. Very delicious!

Creamy Broccoli Soup Pg.189

I have a hard time with a lot of cream based soups but this creamy broccoli doesn’t have cream and it was silky and delicious without the cream. So good for me and delicious!

I really love how simple the recipes are from this cook book. I also love the big photos. For me personally a cook book needs to have the photo or the finished product or else I can’t make it. Maybe that will be a later challenge in this series. lol 😂 This cook book is easy, fast and delicious! I highly recommend this cook book and give it a 5/5 stars!

Best Day To Cook: Easy Everyday Lighter Dinners At Home Part 2

Hello my lovely friends! I hope you are all well. I’ve been enjoying trying more recipes from my cook book collection and last week I made three recipes from the book* “Woman’s Day Easy Everyday Lighter Dinners” by Kate Merker and editors of Woman’s Day. I believe I won this book in the past. I find the recipes really easy and simple. Not complicated at all and the flavours are simple and delicious. Very easy to follow the recipes. The pictures are big and beautiful and the directions in the cook book are easy to follow.

The first recipe that I tried is absolutely delicious! “Pineapple and ham fried rice” on page 103.

Next recipe I tried is a “Sweet and spicy chicken stir fry” on page 40. My family loved this recipe as well. The snow peas were kindly given to me by my lovely neighbour. The snow peas were so delicious! Home grown veggies taste so good. I’m so grateful. They even gave me green beans. I grew some hot peppers and tomatoes and I offered them some as well. Next year I would like to plant some green beans, carrots and snow peas in my garden.

The third recipe I tried is the “Pork Chops with apricot rice”on page 23. Next time I will use bone-in pork chops instead. I like bone-in because I feel it has more flavour.

I really love this recipe book and I’m going to continue to make more recipes from this lovely cook book. It is very simple to use. The ingredients are light and healthy. Easy to follow and it has beautiful pictures that are bright and colourful. The cook book also includes calories, fat, sodium, carbs, fiber and cholesterol count. It also has Cooking tips. It is categorized by Main Courses, Sides and Desserts. I give this book a 5/5 stars. Fantastic!

Best Day To Cook: Easy Delicious Food At Home Part 1

I have a lot of lovely cook books in my collection and I’ve only tried a few recipes from them. It’s so funny but I love reading and looking at the pictures but never actually make any of them. It takes time to shop the ingredients and cook food that you hope your whole family will love. But I really want to make a change and I want to introduce more flavours and ingredients to my family. I want to explore more flavours and textures. I look forward to sharing my cook book journey with you. I hope you enjoy my post and future posts and I hope to inspire you to start cooking easy, delicious recipes at home.

I will start with my newest purchase. I was watching the Netflix series “Down to Earth” and in one of the episodes a lovely chef was featured. Her name is Ella Woodward and she is the writer for * Deliciously Ella. I tried a lot of her recipes and I absolutely love this cook book. Easy to follow recipes with simple ingredients that are so good for you. I’m not a Vegan but I do love eating healthy and I’m really enjoying this book. I feel that everyone can enjoy this book and not just Vegans.

Ladies Lunch & Toronto Snow Storm

On the weekend we had a lovely snow storm in Toronto. I love storms because I find them peaceful to look at but not to travel in.

When I arrived at the restaurant I was so excited to meet Voula. The restaurant power was flickering when I arrived. I have that effect with the powers of the universe. lol just kidding. The power was going on and off because of the storm but that didn’t stop us from having a great time. We had fresh salad and green beans that were absolutely delicious! It was amazing getting to know Voula. My instinct was so right about her. She is so incredible! A beautiful, energetic, bright, optimistic and lovely woman!

We talked and brainstormed, we came up with so many lovely ideas. We are so creative in many ways and so similar!  We also have the same love for food. It’s so amazing when you find a friend that you can easily talk to and be your self. It was so amazing to get to know Voula and talk to her.  I am so happy to call her my friend. She is so kind hearted and beautiful inside and out!
