Celebrate the season with Santa’s Arrival and new holiday activities

Richmond Hill (November 13, 2017): This season, Hillcrest Mall introduces new interactive features to its holiday repertoire. From its elegant new Santa Set, to Hillcrest’donation of luxury soap made with Hillcrest Honey to theYellow Brick House, new VR pop-up and unique ZaZaZoo rides, customers of all ages will be able to enjoy the festive season at Hillcrest. Good ol’ Saint Nick arrives at Hillcrest’s Centre Court on November 16, and will bring back last year’s popular Pet Night and Quiet Time with Santa. Gift wrapping services are available starting December 2, with all proceeds going to Epilepsy York Region. Added to the entertainment mix is a ‘Choose Your Experience’ pop-up, an activation that utilizes VR technology to engage with kids, millennials and tech lovers of all ages.

“With the surge of new upcoming retailers at Hillcrest, shoppers are eager to see what we have in the works. This holiday season, Hillcrest is focusing on important updates in advance of its interior renovation, including a new Santa Set and revamped website.” says Lisa Resnic, Marketing Director and Specialty Leasing Director, Hillcrest Mall. “This year will also be the first time we are introducing Black Thursday to offer shoppers even more value.”

With the success of Hillcrest’s rooftop beehives this summer, the centre will be making a donation of luxury soap made with Hillcrest Honey to the Yellow Brick House. This season, the mall is encouraging its shoppers to consider purchasing items from the Yellow Brick House’s wish list and making a donation.

Holiday shopping is set with Hillcrest’s interior renovation and North Wing redevelopment underway, bringing in new retailers to the mix including MinisoBrowns and OkaïdiRockport, Sleep Country Canada and Escents Aromatherapy have already opened this fall.  Fruit of the Land Culinary Market, a holiday shop specializing in farm-fresh foods, artisanal products and custom gift baskets continues to be a destination this holiday season. Shoppers can stay up to date on what’s coming soon via Hillcrest’s newly designed website.

Black Thursday and Black Friday 
On November 23Black Thursday, the mall will open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Shoppers who purchase a minimum $200 gift card on Black Thursdaywill be rewarded 10% of the total value back on a separate gift card. Hillcrest will open from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on November 24 for Black Friday.Shoppers who purchase a minimum $200 gift card on Black Friday will be rewarded 5% of the total value back on a separate gift card.
Santa’s Arrival & Fun Experiences
Santa arrives to Hillcrest’s new Santa Set in Centre Court on November 16.

Pet Night with Santa
Pet Night with Santa will take place at Santa’s set located at the North end of the mall, just outside Shoppers Drug Mart. Guests can bring their pets with paws (only) to take a picture with Santa on November 20, 22, 23 and 28,between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. 

Quiet Time with Santa
Autism Ontario’s York Region Chapter and Hillcrest Mall will host Quiet Time with Santa in support of children with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) on November 19 and 26 between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Lights will be lowered and other stimuli subdued to make a more comfortable, enjoyable atmosphere for children and parents. VR Pop-UP & ZaZaZoo
ZaZaZoo Rides
ZaZaZoo is an innovative concept that allows shoppers to rent and ride large plush animals throughout the shopping centre. Guests of all ages are encouraged to take part.

‘Choose Your Experience’ VR Pop-up 
VR Escapes will kick it up a notch this season with an interactive virtual reality pop-up experience opening this December. For a limited time only, guests of all ages will be able to experience a variety of VR through tech simulations.

Charity Initiatives
Hillcrest is leading its charity initiatives this holiday season with soap donations to the Yellow Brick House, a women’s shelter in Richmond Hill. To make use of the abundant Hillcrest Honey harvested from the mall’s rooftop hives, the soap is made using the honey as its primary ingredient. Returning initiatives include Salvation Army and Toy Mountain. Hillcrest staff will also surprise shoppers with jars of Hillcrest Honey.

    And how thoughtful to have Quiet time with Santa in support of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. I’ve not heard of an event like this before.
